Powder Coating Sports Equipment

admin • February 1, 2016

Female Golfer A few months back, we posted about a few sports that benefit from powder coating (in case you missed the post, here it is). Due to powder coating’s strong and water resistant finish, it is a great option to protect and personalize your sports equipment.  Below are a few examples of sports equipment that can easily be powder coated.

Hockey

Hockey is a high-impact sport, and powder coating hockey equipment can help it last, or revamp used equipment.  Hockey goals are typically powder coated to increase their durability with a flashy finish.  Equipment drying racks also can be powder coated to make it more corrosion resistant.  A fun idea is to powder coat your goalie’s mask to match the team colors, instead of spray painting it (a potential health hazard, especially if it begins to chip).

Bicycles

Bicycle frames, especially sport bikes, are often powder coated.  Powder coating can make old, scratched frames look and feel brand new.  You can also powder coat your bike to create a new color scheme for your ride.  If you ride on rough terrain, powder coating your frame can help your bike withstand debris and hold up for a long time.

Camping Equipment

If you and your family are avid campers, you would not be surprised to find out that many outdoor recreation equipment is powder coated.   While camping, you might be exposed to any number or elements, so it is wise to protect your gear.  Camping chair frames, trailer frames, cots, hunting knives, some camping stoves, and more can be powder coated to increase your equipment’s durability.

Golf Equipment

If you are an avid golfer, you know how quickly your clubs can get scratched and look like you don’t take care of them.  You also probably have a favorite club that would cost you hundreds to replace.  You can get your club powder coated, making it good as new!  However, you need to be careful if you plan on coating the face of the club head, as it might change the spin, as well as make it an illegal club according to USGA regulations.  You also need to make sure that the material of the club can withstand the heat of the powder coating process.  If you have any questions, feel free to bring it in and we can take a look!
