How to Protect Your Patio Furniture This Winter

admin • September 1, 2018

If you live in a really warm location, you probably don’t give a lot of thought to how your patio furniture fares during the winter season. If you live in an area that has a lot of rain and snow during the fall and winter, you’ve probably noticed that the elements really have an effect on the appearance and longevity of your patio furniture.

What materials are your furniture made out of?

Certain materials will do fine in the rain and snow, and others will do best if you move them indoors. Plastic will be fine, so you don’t have to worry about protecting any plastic furniture. If your furniture is painted or upholstered, you’ll want to take extra precautions. If your furniture is powder coated, it will be less likely to rust or break down under the elements, but it will definitely last longer if you don’t leave it to be snowed on all winter!

Place them in storage

One of your available options is to put your patio furniture in storage. You can move them into a shed, attic, garage, or a spare room, you don’t necessarily have to go and get a storage unit just for your seasonal patio furniture. Placing them anywhere where they won’t get excessively wet will be adequate for the wet seasons.

Use covers

Another option, if you don’t have the space to store your patio furniture inside your home, is to purchase covers to go over them. If you have a deck, you can also place the furniture under the deck if you’d like, so they don’t have the direct attack of moisture, although we still recommend a cover! As far as covering your furniture goes, there are so many routes you could go! You could do something as simple as tying down a tarp over your furniture. Another option is to purchase storage bags that are specifically made for each type and shape of furniture you have. You just have to zip them around your furniture to keep them safe all winter long!

Treat them with a protectant

You can also purchase protectant materials to apply to the surface of your patio furniture. This can work, but it won’t last as long as any of the other two options! Look for fabric protectors for couches, and get a fresh coat of powder coating on any metal furniture to keep them waterproof.

TL;DR — Powder Coating for the Medical Field (AS9001) Medical-grade powder coating prioritizes cleanability, chemical resistance, durability, and documented quality suitable for hospitals and device makers. Buyers often expect AS9001-style rigor with ISO-style documentation, including travelers, lot traceability, cure logs, inspections, and retained panels. Proper prep drives longevity: degreasing, targeted media blasting, conversion coating, and outgassing for castings, plus precise masking of functional interfaces. Cure must be verified at part temperature with time-at-temp logs, calibrated film-build checks, and controlled color and gloss against masters. Validation uses adhesion, impact, bend, chemical rubs with alcohols and quats, corrosion testing when needed, and cleanability trials that mirror real SOPs. Common applications include carts, IV stands, rails, cabinets, monitor arms, housings, and bed components, with neutral, low-glare textures for easy wipe downs. Cost reflects geometry, masking, pretreatment, custom colors or antimicrobials, documentation level, and batching strategy. Use a Utah finisher that shows sample travelers, retained panels, and oven mapping, and can scale from prototype to production while maintaining consistency. Service coverage spans Salt Lake County, Utah County, Davis County, Weber County, and Cache County with pickup and delivery by arrangement. Need help setting specs or validation? Talk to Full Blown Coatings for pretreatment plans, antimicrobial options, cure control, and documentation that meets your audit requirements.

TL;DR — Powder Coating for Aerospace (ISO/AS9100) Powder coating provides durable, lightweight, low-VOC protection for aerospace interiors, avionics housings, and ground-support equipment. ISO/AS9100 adds aviation-grade controls: documented travelers, first article inspection, calibrated gauges, cure logs, and full traceability. Performance depends on disciplined prep: precision cleaning, media blasting, conversion coating, outgassing, masking, and purpose-built racking with solid grounding. Cure is validated with thermocouples on representative mass to hit time-at-temperature. Film build is held within spec and Faraday areas are engineered up front. Release testing covers thickness, adhesion, impact, bend, gloss, color delta, humidity or salt fog, and specified chemical rubs. Use powder for consistent appearance and abrasion resistance in cabins and on the ramp. Choose alternatives like anodize, conversion coat, ceramic, or vacuum coating when ultra-thin or high-temp films are required. Cost drivers: part size and complexity, masking, pretreatment stack, finish tier, special tests, and documentation packages. Buyer checklist: drawings with mask and film-build zones, color and gloss targets, required tests, documentation needs, sample panels or pilot build, and packaging specs. Need an aerospace-grade, ISO/AS9100-aligned finish in Utah? Full Blown Coatings can quote , sample, and document to spec.
